HOUSTON ARTS TEAM

August 31,2012- July 2013 I will be serving with a program called Mission year. Mission year is an urban ministry program focused on Christian service and discipleship. I will be living and working with a team of people in Houston, TX to serve and create community through the avenue of the arts. The majority of my time I will be serving at St. John's Church in downtown Houston. The program is committed to the command of Jesus to “love God and love people,” by placing the needs of our neighbors first and developing committed disciples of Christ with a heart for the poor. The day by day schedule includes intentional community, professional service, discipleship, neighborhood outreach, church partnership, and education/training. (for more info check out the links on the sidebar)

Pray: for a heart to love God and love people.

Grace.

Hello all!

So this past month has been a season of spiritual refinement for me.  I have had the flu, experienced the loss of team members, and have discovered the value of honest prayer.  The verse which has been playing over and over again reads,

7 Hear me as I pray, O Lord.
Be merciful and answer me!
8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Psalm 27:7-8

I have heard God asking me to spend time in His presence and have experienced the joy of being a daughter of the King!

I have had the privilege of sharing with my teammates how God has worked in my life and how Christ has brought me the greatest joy.  In a season of giving thanks I have much to be thankful for, an amazing family, my health, an opportunity to give to those in need, love, joy, and a peace that surpasses all understanding.  Grace is a gift from God and forgiveness is more than a moment it is a state of being.  True freedom comes with seeing not only the brokenness in this world but in recognizing how Jesus can bring life out of death.
